If you’re wondering how to make the most of your time here, here’s our ideal two-day itinerary.
Friday Afternoon
Check in and explore Blenheim: Once you’ve settled into your accommodation, take a stroll through the centre of Blenheim. Browse the boutique stores, pick up something special from one of the local retailers, and ease into the slower pace that Marlborough is known for. Experience Marlborough’s wines in one place. Saturday Morning
Walk the Wither Hills. Start the day with one of Marlborough’s most iconic walks. The Wither Hills Farm Park offers panoramic views across the Wairau Plains, vineyards, and surrounding mountains. There are walks for all fitness levels, making it a great way to begin your day. Once you’re done, head back to town for coffee and brunch at one of Blenheim’s many local cafés before setting off for the afternoon.
Saturday Afternoon
Discover the Marlborough Sounds. No trip to Marlborough is complete without experiencing the Sounds. Whether you take a cruise, explore by boat, enjoy a waterfront lunch, or simply soak up the scenery around Picton, it’s one of New Zealand’s most spectacular coastal destinations. If you’re visiting during summer, consider a seafood cruise or a day exploring Queen Charlotte Sound - we’d recommend checking out Beachcomber Cruises and browsing one of their many options. They are a locally owned family run company that has a great fleet of boats for all sounds cruises.
Saturday Evening
Dinner at Oak & Ivy. Round off the day with an exceptional dining experience at Oak and Ivy, located within The Alfred centre. Visit the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre. Even if aviation isn’t normally your thing, Omaka is worth a visit, we promise. Its award winning exhibitions combine rare aircraft with immersive displays designed by the amaizng Weta Productions to create one of New Zealand’s most impressive museums. Sunday Afternoon
